Musical Theatre Highlights: City of Angels & The Secret Sister
SENIOR
This term, we have continued our work on City of Angels in preparation for our upcoming performances. In the lead-up to production week, students have been developing a strong understanding of the full technical process involved in staging a musical. This has included set movement, prop organisation, microphone requirements and sound checks, as well as the mental preparation and teamwork required to problem-solve in a live performance environment.
Our Senior MT cohort has excelled across all of these areas. Their professionalism, focus, and commitment have resulted in performances of an exceptionally high standard.
Congratulations to every member of the cohort, and to all staff and students involved in bringing this production to life. It has been a true team achievement and a testament to their hard work and dedication.
JUNIOR
This term, the Junior Musical Theatre students presented their production of The Secret Sister. Throughout the rehearsal and performance process, they developed a strong understanding of the final stages of bringing a show to life. This included learning the technical requirements of microphone use, lighting, set movement, prop organisation, costume changes, and effective collaboration backstage and onstage.
The students excelled in their ability to tell story, performing with confidence, focus, and genuine engagement. Their work captivated audiences and demonstrated how far they have come in their training this year.
Alongside the production, the cohort has also begun preparing their pieces for the Term 3 Showcase. Each number is created by a different creative team, giving students the opportunity to learn new material, explore varied styles, and collaborate with a range of faculty. They have started learning the score for each piece and are now developing the choreography and staging.
The students are excited to continue this work next term and are embracing the challenge of preparing for Showcase with enthusiasm and professionalism.
