USA Tour 2026: From New York to Los Angeles
Between Term 1 and 2, a group of our students travelled to New York and Los Angeles for a tour packed with performance, learning, sightseeing and new experiences.
The tour began in New York City, where students had the opportunity to engage with some of the world’s leading performing arts institutions. They took part in workshops at The Acting Studio, Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, Stella Adler Studio of Acting, Steps on Broadway and the Roundabout Theatre Company. The group also enjoyed a behind-the-scenes visit to the renowned Juilliard School.
One of the highlights of the New York experience was the opportunity to visit Hugh Jackman’s theatre and perform for him, giving students a unique insight into the industry and a memorable experience they will not soon forget.
Students also experienced Broadway firsthand, attending productions including Dog Day Afternoon, The Lost Boys, The Great Gatsby and Death of a Salesman. Away from the theatre district, they explored many of New York’s iconic landmarks, including the 9/11 Memorial Museum, The High Line, NBC Studios, Radio City Music Hall, SUMMIT One Vanderbilt and the Museum of Broadway.
As with any trip, not everything went exactly to plan. When a scheduled Yankees game was rained out, students made the most of the change by heading to the TKTS booth in Times Square and choosing their own matinee performances. It quickly became one of the most talked-about moments of the tour.
Another favourite activity was the New York Scavenger Hunt. Working in teams, students completed a range of creative challenges throughout the city, from performing Shakespeare in public and recreating famous theatre scenes to convincing New Yorkers to deliver iconic movie lines on camera.
After New York, students boarded their flight to Los Angeles and began the West Coast leg of the tour with a sightseeing day across the city. Stops included the famous Farmers Market for lunch, a walk along Rodeo Drive and time exploring Hollywood before making their way to Anaheim and the Desert Palms Hotel.
That evening, the group enjoyed dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. in Anaheim GardenWalk. Students then had the chance to spend time with friends, whether shopping, bowling, seeing a movie or simply relaxing back at the hotel.
The following day was dedicated to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Armed with Park Hopper passes, students spent the day exploring attractions, enjoying rides and taking in the atmosphere across both parks from morning until night.
The final full day of the tour saw the group head to Universal Studios after breakfast and hotel checkout. Highlights included the famous Studio Tour through the front and back lots, live action shows, thrilling rides and a visit to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
With plenty of memories, photos and stories to share, students then made their way to LAX for the overnight flight home to Australia, bringing an unforgettable tour to a close. 🌎✨
