Tapping into musical inspirations

Term 2 has been a productive and rewarding period for our Secondary Music Stream students, culminating in a series of excellent showcases last week. Across Primary, Junior and Senior Streams, students demonstrated strong musicianship, creativity and teamwork as they brought their performances to life.

Junior Stream Showcase: Soul

Students in Years 7–9 worked towards their Soul showcase, presenting music from the 60s Soul and Motown era through both classic arrangements and modern interpretations. The improvement from Term 1 was clear, with a special mention to our Year 7 students, who have shown impressive development in their musicianship and ensemble skills.

Senior Stream Showcase: Inspirations

The Senior Stream presented Inspirations, a showcase where each student selected a song, artist or theme that has inspired their musical journey. This resulted in an eclectic and exciting mix of repertoire, including Shostakovich, Donny Hathaway, Karnivool, Kanye West, Ed Sheeran, Pearl Jam and Beyoncé. Our senior students once again rose to the occasion, performing with confidence, maturity and strong musicality.

Concert Practice

Both Junior and Senior Streams continued their weekly solo performance work through Friday concert practice. These sessions remain an important part of students’ musical development, offering regular performance experience and valuable feedback.

A heartfelt thank you to all our dedicated music tutors for their ongoing work with students throughout the year. Their guidance and expertise continue to shape confident, capable and expressive young musicians.
