Dance Stream Highlights on the Spotlight
Term 3 has been an incredibly rewarding period for our Dance Stream students, with our focus centred on preparing for and performing in our High‑Performance Showcases. It has been a term of challenge, growth and meaningful personal development, and I believe we have continued to raise the standard across the Dance Stream.
Students were introduced to a story‑based lyrical routine created by the exceptionally talented Dylan Bull, giving them the chance to explore a new movement style and strengthen their storytelling and performance qualities. Each group also learnt a new jazz routine, offering a strong contrast to earlier work and challenging students to adapt to a different style, energy and performance quality. Some of our contemporary students learnt a new contemporary piece with me, while Clayton Church commenced integral contemporary training that has already proved highly beneficial to our dancers’ development.
Across every class and routine, we built on the foundations established earlier in the year while introducing new challenges and, I believe, a higher level of difficulty.
The High‑Performance Showcase was an unforgettable experience. Every dancer took a significant step forward, finding new levels of confidence, commitment and belief in themselves while overcoming major personal and performance challenges. As a team, students supported one another and created an environment where everyone could continue to push themselves and grow. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from students, parents and staff has been incredibly rewarding and is a true credit to the hard work and dedication shown throughout the term.
I want to thank our Dance Stream students for putting their trust in me and for committing themselves to every class this term. We pushed ourselves to the limit, and the results were clear. I am incredibly proud of every dancer and the progress they have made, both individually and as a group.
Throughout the term, we also began shaping our next Dance Showcase, Something Like an Opera. I could not be more excited to begin rehearsals and embark on what I already know will be a unique performance experience, with a whole new set of lessons, challenges and opportunities ahead for our students.
