Four Stellar Productions on the way

It has been a very busy time on the Acting floor at The McDonald College this term. Four plays have been cast and are currently in production. We invite everyone to grab their red marker and block out these dates for four great nights of theatre.

First up, we have our first Senior Acting production—“Stupid Bird,” an adaptation of Chekhov’s classic “The Seagull.” This is an inspired piece of theatre, with our senior actors, under the watchful eye of Ms Romy Bartz, bringing this fresh new play to life in the Blackbox Theatre 28- 30 May.

Following this is the much-anticipated Junior production, “Peach Tree Smash Cut,” written and directed by our very own Mr Alex Lee-Rekers. The students have been working tirelessly on this new Australian work, and there is a real buzz around it. This production is on 12-13 June in the Blackbox.

Mr Friend is then tackling “Noises Off”, a play that is consistently ranked in the top 10 comedies of all time. It is a rollicking farce in the same style as ‘The Play That Goes Wrong”, and the Senior Acting cohort is relishing the challenge of unearthing their comedic sides. This production runs from 19– 22 June in the Fraser Auditorium.

Finally, Primary Acting is having great fun working on “The Kids Who Fell into the Book,” which is on the 30-31 July, again in the Blackbox, and co-directed by Romy Bartz and Alex Lee-Rekers. It is always amazing to see our younger actors at work, beginning their journey to who knows where.

We’d love to see you all at one or all of these productions next term. You won’t be disappointed!
