Sydney Eisteddfod Ballet Scholarship winner

On Sunday night (23 July), the Sydney Eisteddfod held its Dance Gala, at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall. The event is one of the most prestigious events in the Southern Hemisphere, and it celebrates and showcases Australia’s finest young dancers. Aside from being a great spectacle for those attending, the event is a unique opportunity for young dancers to perform in such an iconic venue, but also gives them the chance to win the valuable Sydney Eisteddfod Ballet Scholarship.

We are extremely proud to announce that Year 10 student, Henry Burgess, won the Sydney Eisteddfod Ballet Scholarship (16-19 Years)! This was a well-deserved award, recognising Henry’s talent, passion and determination.

It has been quite a year for Henry. He performed at the Prix de Lausanne in Switzerland in February, took the lead male role in our production of Swan Lake and has accepted a position to study at the Royal Ballet School, in London where he begins in September.

A huge congratulations to Henry and to all the other finalists who performed so beautifully yesterday afternoon.
