Creative Writing

If you ask any of the students in our Year 3/4 class what are some important things to remember when you are creating a piece of writing, they will tell you to make your piece engaging with a compelling start, and to demonstrate to the reader how someone is feeling. Some wonderful examples of our talented writers are included below:

The Royal Botanic Gardens

I smelt the sea as we walked along the edge of the water. My feet were aching like something I have never felt before. The view of the Opera House was beautiful, and the Harbour Bridge was amazing. It was one of the best excursions I have gone to. I learnt so many things. There are so many plants.

Describing A Scene

The black figures rowed across the gleaming dark ocean. Their eyes stared at the black house with only one gold light beaming up to them. The black figures rowed faster once they checked the time. Soon enough they reached the house. He knocked on the door. A strange man opened the door. Then they shut the door hard! Then they locked it. They turned the key around and around and around! Then suddenly the house disappeared.

The Big Climb

Step by step he walked through the crunchy snow to make it to the top of the escarpment. The climb went on for ever and he thought he was going to collapse. When he reached the top, he fell to the ground with a thud.

One step at a time, he felt the pain in his knees, but he was brave enough to keep on going. Suddenly, he knew he was really near at the very top. When he looked up at the sky he saw the sun, it was beaming into his hazel eyes. He kept walking and made it to the top.

Feeling Shy

I feel sick in the stomach and my legs begin to wobble. My face turns red and I stay close to my mum and dad. I don’t want to talk to anyone. I look straight ahead.
