Premier State Ballet RE/IMAGINED

Premier State Ballet has been reimagined. Our vision is to expose young artists to choreography extending beyond their classical technique. Encouraging interpretive movement which explores the abstract and the unconventional – alongside the 21st century repertoire of dance companies to which they aspire.

Premier State Ballet RE/IMAGINED

Premier State Ballet RE/IMAGINED is open to the general ballet community as well as our College students, After Hours students and participants of the Elite Masterclass Series and International Summer School.

The program features emerging and established choreographers who will present thoughtful and challenging dance works.

We nurture the growth and development of participants by presenting regular performances – up to four different works each year.

This will give students more flexibility with their schedules. For example, a Year 12 student may wish to participate in Terms 1 and 2 and then withdraw for Terms 3 and 4 to focus on their studies.

We are proud to present for Term 2

About Nicky

Selected for The Royal Ballet Company’s development scheme, Nicky commenced as a junior associate aged seven, securing a place at The Royal Ballet Lower School (White Lodge).

In 1991 Nicky secured a position with The Royal Ballet Company, based at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. During this time, she progressed to the position of Soloist, performing First Soloist and Principal roles, and guested with Irek Mukamedov’s company at The Sadlers Wells Theatre.

In 2003, Nicky was awarded a degree in Dance and Sports Psychology, and completed the Professional Dancer’s Teaching Diploma with distinction at the RAD Headquarters, where she conducted freelance teaching and private coaching until 2011, as well as tuition at the RAD summer schools in London, Italy, Singapore, and Tokyo. Nicky has also taught at the English National Ballet School summer school in London.

Nicky relocated to Sydney with her family 2011, where she successfully qualified as an APMA Pilates instructor in 2012 and as a Franklin Method Level 1 teacher in 2014. She now teaches ballet and Pilates at The McDonald College and elsewhere.

Nicky’s understanding of body biomechanics and passion for dance/movement has inspired her to help others.

The Premier State Ballet was established in 1989 with the aim of providing pre-professional classical ballet dancers with the opportunity to perform a season of the classics such as The Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty. Starting in 2022, The McDonald College Secondary Classical Ballet Stream will produce a full-length ballet at the beginning of Semester 2 each year as part of their coursework.
