Tips for a successful audition at The McDonald College

Calling all aspiring artists and athletes

At The McDonald College, we are renowned for our legacy in classical ballet and dance, but we also offer a vibrant range of performing arts and elite performance sports programs. These include music, musical theatre, acting, elite tennis, and rhythmic gymnastics!

Preparing for Your Big Day

Students entering Years 5 and above are required to attend an audition. We spoke with Mr. Peter Kraft, Director of Performing Arts, who shared some helpful tips:

Be Confident: Our friendly audition environment is designed to inspire you to showcase your best!

  • Do Your Homework: Review the audition requirements on our website well in advance. Ensure you know your music piece or acting monologue (if applicable).
  • Warm-Up! If auditioning for dance, arrive early and dedicate time to proper warm-up exercises.
  • Be Yourself: The panel wants to hear your authentic voice! Speak from the heart about your passion for the arts and why you’re drawn to The McDonald College.

How to Get Started

Elite Athletes: Prospective students in our Elite Tennis or Rhythmic Gymnastics programs should already demonstrate a competitive level of performance. We can coordinate a trial and a tour at your convenience.
