AACTA nominee, filmmaker and actor

Last year, McDonald College alumnus Hannah Barlow’s second feature film, SISSY, was nominated for Best Direction in Film at the Australian Academy (AACTA) Awards, going up against Baz Luhrmann for his biopic, Elvis.

So, of course we are beyond excited to announce Hannah as a guest speaker for the Principal’s Gala Dinner on 27 May.

After graduating from The McDonald College in 2009, Hannah won a coveted place at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA).

She starred in various Sydney Theatre Company productions and the TV miniseries, ‘Breaker Morant: The Retrial’. She was selected as a finalist for the Heath Ledger Scholarship.

Hannah’s first feature film (as writer, director, and producer), For Now, was released worldwide in 2017 and was nominated for best picture and screened at several film festivals. She also appeared in The Armoire and starred in a leading role in Two Sentence Horror Stories.

Youtube producer with over 3.5M subscribers

Alumnus Martin Mulholland is the co-host of one of YouTube’s most popular car-related channels in the world. Since 2008, Mighty Car Mods has attracted over 3.5 million subscribers and over 719 million views.

The show focuses on DIY car modifications and car culture. Marty and his friend / co-host ‘Moog’ have travelled extensively to experience car culture all over the world and create episodes from these experiences. They have filmed episodes in Japan, Cuba, Germany, the UAE, America, Switzerland, the UK and New Zealand. In 2022, Mighty Car Mods opened a collaborative workspace named Super Garage in Sydney, where they now film and host events for their fans. Marty and Moog are also involved in various charitable causes, raising funds for cancer research, and supporting local communities.

Professional singer, songwriter, and vocal teacher

Former student of The McDonald College, Katia started singing at the age of 7. By the age of 16, she had composed and recorded her first EP, which earned her a publishing contract with Sony BMG.

She has since worked with many prominent Australian musicians and songwriters, such as Jessica Mauboy, Phil Buckle, Cameron McGlinchey and Blair Joscelyne.

She has performed at the Sydney Opera House, Allphones Arena, The Basement and Angel Place. She has appeared on TV shows like Sunrise and The Morning Show, and her vocals have been featured in the film Girl Clock.

Katia has also ventured overseas, where she sang at 5-star hotels in China and Malaysia. She was part of a band called Righteous Voodoo, which gained popularity in 2015 with their debut single Bygone. They headlined several major Australian festivals and received airplay on Triple J.

She is one of the most sought-after vocal teachers in Sydney, thanks to her impressive resume, versatile vocal abilities, and friendly personality.
