Modern History Students Tackle Global Events
This term, our Year 11 Modern History students embarked on an exciting journey of historical investigation. With the freedom to choose topics that spark their interest, students explored a wide array of subjects, from a wide variety of time periods, such as, to what extent the Great Depression led to the rise of the Nazi party, the ongoing significance of 9/11 and the Boer Wars.
Over the course of five weeks, they honed their research skills, delving into primary sources, refined their research question, and examining diverse perspectives. Students presented their research to a panel, demonstrating their dedication and critical thinking abilities. This rigorous process culminated in an in-depth research response, showcasing their findings and insights.
Their work highlighted the importance of historical inquiry in addressing contemporary issues, demonstrating that the historical world is closer to us than we might think. These historical events provide a familiar through line, continuing to shape our lives today.
