Mila Northeast in Peter Rabbit 2
Our Year 6 Junior School Captain, Mila, recently had the opportunity to work on the upcoming feature film Peter Rabbit 2, starring Rose Byrne, Domhnall Gleeson and James Corden. The highly anticipated sequel was filmed at a custom-built set at Moore Park. We asked Mila about her time on the film and what she took away from this memorable experience.
Can you tell us about your recent experience working on the film Peter Rabbit 2. What role did you play and what did it involve?
I absolutely loved being a part of Peter Rabbit 2 and I think it was a phenomenal experience. I was an extra but my role was a market girl. I had many different scenes with my brother and the other kids. One of the scenes was playing tag with the other kids but all of the scenes that I did as part of the market scene will be included in the movie.
What did you learn from your experience whilst working on the film?
I have built more confidence and I have learnt to put myself in my character’s shoes.
Is performing in front of a camera different to performing on stage?
I think performing in front of camera is not that different from performing on stage because you will always have an audience of some kind or someone looking at you.
How have your performance skills from school helped you for this experience?
I think that my school helped me with my performance during the movie because they were trying to make this opportunity worthwhile for me, and they supported me during the whole process.
Can you tell us about your time being Junior School Captain and what you have learnt in your leadership role?
I love being the Junior School Captain because I have met amazing new people and have been given opportunities to speak at different organisations, such as NIDA. The role has allowed me to set goals and accomplish them. It was an honour to be elected Junior School Captain.
Peter Rabbit 2 is set for a theatrical release in early 2020.
