Boys’ tennis team wins 2026 NSW High School Championship title again

The McDonald College boys’ tennis team has won the NSW High School Championships in Newcastle, successfully defending the title they claimed in 2025.

Back-to-back state titles are a different achievement from a single win. The first shows what a team can do. The second shows a program that produces it consistently.

The victory also secures the team automatic entry into the National High School Championships, the Gallipoli Youth Cup.

Our girls’ team finished fourth across the same weekend, improving on their result from last year. Both teams competed across three days of high-level tennis against schools from across the state.

Thank you to the coaching team at Voyager Tennis, whose daily work with these players is what a result like this is built on. Thank you also to our teachers Sharlane Murphy and Connie Lasorsa, who looked after both teams beautifully across the three days in Newcastle.
