Excursion to Australian Composer’s Day

Selected Year 10 and Year 11 Elective Music students attended the Australian Composers’ Day at Santa Sabina College on Monday 4 May 2026.

Throughout the day, students took part in seminars led by leading Australian composers Maria Grenfell, Luka Lesson, and Alice Chance, gaining valuable insight into contemporary compositional practices. They analysed set works alongside the composers themselves, deepening their understanding of musical techniques and creative processes.

Hands-on workshops and masterclasses offered opportunities for students to refine their own compositional skills while collaborating with peers from across New South Wales.

The event was a highly valuable experience, allowing students to engage with professional musicians, broaden their musical perspectives, and further develop their confidence as emerging composers.
