Tim Draxl announced for Sydney Cabaret Festival
The lineup of the inaugural Sydney Cabaret Festival has been announced, showcasing the best of Australian and international cabaret stars including Tony Award-winning Jennifer Holliday.
Tim Draxl will return to the cabaret stage to perform his world premiere Love Is A Drag. The show is based on 1960’s cult album of the same name. The melodic, haunting work comprises American standards previously only sung by women, reinterpreted by a male crooner whose identity is deliberately withheld. The album’s includes My Man, The Man I Love, He’s Funny That Way, Bewitched and Mad About The Boy.
Love Is A Drag is a vibrant and intimate exploration of a history of repression, resilience and sacrifice, as well as a celebration of Tim Draxl’s personal journey and artistic freedom.
Sydney Cabaret Festival is from 5-14 July 2019.
