Heath Ledger Scholarship, Mojean Aria

Former student Mojean Aria is the 9th recipient of the Heath Ledger scholarship, which is awarded to an emerging actor aged between 18-35 years in memory of the late actor. Funds from the scholarship goes towards assisting actors with establishing their career in the U.S.

During his acceptance speech, which was held at the Sunset Marquis Hotel in West Hollywood with Ledger’s family, Mojean gave a heartfelt thank you to his mother and his fellow nominees. The announcement was made by an all-star panel of judges including Naomi Watts and Gary Oldman. Past winners have included Ryan Corr (Mary Magdalene, The Water Diviner, Holding the Man), James Mackay (The Dressmaker, Hacksaw Ridge, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) and Bella Heathcote (Fifty Shades Darker, Dark Shadows, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies).

Mojean is most recently recognised as the lead of Jake LaMotta in The Bronx Bull, which is based on the story of the legendary boxing champion.
