Year 9 Students Experience WWI History Through Theatre
On Thursday 6 November, our Year 9 students were treated to a powerful and immersive history incursion in the Blackbox Theatre, thanks to Glen from Troubie Theatre Company. The performance, titled WWI: Fightin’ the Kaiser, brought the realities of World War I to life in a fresh and engaging way.
Troubie Theatre is known for its creative approach to education, using professional actors and interactive storytelling to make history resonate with students. Glen’s solo performance focused on the journey of a WWI soldier recovering in hospital, exploring themes of trauma, resilience, and the human cost of war.
Through a clever mix of humour, drama, and historical insight, the production captivated our students and deepened their understanding of this significant period in history. The theatrical format allowed students to connect emotionally with the content, making the learning experience both memorable and meaningful.
We’re grateful to Glen and Troubie Theatre Company for continuing to inspire our students through the arts and for turning history into something they can see, feel, and reflect on.
