SHAPE Nomination and ADF Future Innovators Award for Inclusive Shoe Design
Congratulations to Amy S, who has been nominated for possible inclusion in SHAPE, an annual exhibition presented by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). SHAPE showcases a selection of outstanding major projects by HSC Design and Technology, Industrial Technology, and Textiles and Design students across New South Wales. It highlights work that demonstrates creativity, technical skill, and a strong understanding of design principles and user needs.
Amy’s project was inspired by her brother’s experience with overpronation and the fine motor challenges involved in putting on traditional sneakers. In response, she designed a pair of shoes that aim to make footwear more accessible and supportive for people facing similar difficulties. Her work reflects a thoughtful and personal approach to design—one that considers both function and empathy.

At Graduation, Amy was also awarded the ADF Future Innovators Award, recognising her for her problem-solving mindset and her commitment to inclusive, purpose-driven design.
Congratulations, Amy—your work is a wonderful example of how design can respond to real-world challenges with care and creativity. We’re proud of your achievements and excited to see what comes next.
