Our Students Take on the Australian Mathematics Competition
On August 5, some of our Years 7 – 9 students took part in the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) — a national event that has been inspiring young problem-solvers since 1978. As Australia’s longest running and most well-known maths competition for school students, the AMC offers a unique opportunity to challenge and extend mathematical thinking in a fun and engaging way.
Our students completed a 75-minute online test, filled with a series of carefully crafted problems designed by university academics. These questions go beyond the classroom, encouraging creative thinking, logical reasoning, and perseverance — all essential skills for success in mathematics and beyond.
As a performing arts school, we’re often recognised for our creativity and expression — but we’re equally proud of our commitment to academic excellence. Opportunities like the AMC allow us to highlight the depth and diversity of our students’ talents, proving that artistic passion and intellectual rigour go hand in hand.
