From One Generation to the Next: Nikki Webster Returns to the Olympic Stage with Her Children

On Monday, 15 September, we were delighted to see one of our alumni, Nikki Webster (class of ’04), return to the stage at Accor Stadium for the 25th Anniversary of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games—this time joined by her children, Skylah and Malakai, who are both current students at The McDonald College.

Nikki was just 13 years old and a student here when she performed Under Southern Skies at the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympics, a moment that became iconic in Australian history. Seeing her revisit that performance, now with her children by her side, was a special reminder of how creativity and passion can span generations.

Skylah and Malakai are continuing their journey in the performing arts, just as their mum did—right here at the College. It’s a lovely reflection of how talent and dedication often run in families, and we’re proud to support them as they grow and develop their performance skills.

Moments like these remind us of the lasting impact of arts education and the joy of seeing former students return—not just as alumni, but as parents sharing the experience with their children.

You can see their performance here.
