From Flash Mobs to Choreographic Evenings

Term 4 has been a fantastic way to round out the year and finish on a high note for Dance Stream! From the very first week, it was all systems go as we dived straight into learning new choreography, refining performance quality, and taking time to really focus on technique, staging work, and improvisation tasks across Contemporary and Jazz classes.

Our Junior Dance students had an exciting opportunity to perform a Thriller-style flash mob at an external Halloween event. They had great fun working with After You Productions, learning and creating the choreography, and even upcycling their own handmade “zombie” costumes! The personalised feedback they received provided valuable tools to continue developing their performing arts training. This was a wonderful insight into public performance and giving back to the community.

In November, we also selected our Ann McDonald Scholarship recipients, with the amazing Sally Dangar as our adjudicator. It was a day filled with both nerves and excitement as students presented their own solo work, while Mr Hughes led a technique class to showcase their abilities. We are very fortunate to have had Sally join us for this process. She brought with her years of experience as a professional dancer, teacher, and dance director for Pulse Alive and Schools Spectacular.

Finishing the term with our second Choreographic Evening was nothing short of a powerhouse performance. Dance Stream worked tirelessly to choreograph, polish, and present one of the biggest showcases ever staged in the Fraser Centre. Audiences were up on their feet dancing in the finale—a sure sign of a fun and successful night of entertainment.
