A Musical Journey with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra

On the final day of Term 2, 40 enthusiastic students from Years 9 &10 Curriculum Elective Music students, along with the Years 7-9 PA Music Stream, wrapped up the term with an unforgettable experience – a live concert by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at the Sydney Opera House.

For Year 9 students, who had spent the semester exploring the elegance of Baroque and Classical music with Mr James, and Year 10 students, who had delved into the grandeur of Romantic-era large ensemble works with Mrs Sherer, this concert was the perfect real-world extension of their classroom learning.

Students were not only swept away by the rhythmic energy and dramatic flair of Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, but they were also in awe of seventeen-year-old violin prodigy Christian Li with his breathtaking performance of Korngold’s Violin Concerto.
