A Lot of Livin on the Musical Theatre Stage
This term, both the Junior and Senior Musical Theatre streams have been immersed in preparing for their High Performance Season showcases at NIDA. A standout highlight was the opportunity to work with industry professional Veronica George across three dynamic sessions. These workshops were designed to replicate the professional process of building a musical number—fast-paced, collaborative, and deeply focused on sequencing and storytelling.
Students embraced the challenge, thriving as they absorbed and embodied the material with impressive energy and commitment. The results are two vibrant and engaging pieces: “Lot of Livin’” for Senior Musical Theatre and “Blue Skies” for Junior Musical Theatre—both rich in character and performance.
In addition to these, the Junior Stream presented:
- Children Will Listen from Into the Woods
- Steam Heat from The Pajama Game
- Seize the Day from Newsies
The Senior Stream performed:
- Company from Company
- Step in Time from Mary Poppins
- On Broadway from Beautiful: The Carole King Musical
Over just eight weeks, students have worked with dedication and focus to learn and refine these numbers—a remarkable achievement.
