Rhythmic Gymnastics

Rhythmic gymnastics is an Olympic and Commonwealth Games sport that is at once technical, creative, and athletic. It is a sport adored around the world for its grace and elegance.

Gymnasts perform technical routines choreographed to music. Each routine is carefully constructed to showcase specific body movements, combined with a sequence of hand-held apparatus skills using rope, hoop, ball, clubs, and ribbon.

Working in partnership with the Rhythmic Academy of Sydney, The McDonald College is now taking enrolments for an integrated academic program which we believe is the first of its kind in Australia. This new pathway allows students to engage in daily training in rhythmic gymnastics at the highest level, alongside their pursuit of academic excellence.

Rhythmic Gymnastics programs will be overseen by the Director and Head Coach of Rhythmic Academy of Sydney, Lauren Klemt. Lauren has competed and studied all over the world – most notably under nine-times World Champion, Olena Vitrychenko in Chicago (USA).

Training sessions will be conveniently based at Netball Central in Sydney Olympic Park, less than 10 minutes from the College. Rhythmic Academy of Sydney programs focus on individualised elite athlete development and the formation of small, targeted training squads.

Students participating in this exclusive program will have access to an extensive range of performance and competition pathways, including concerts and displays, school and club competitions, inter-club, state, national and international tournaments.
