bstreetsmart Road Safety Event
On 7 August, as part of their PDHPE curriculum, our students had the opportunity to attend the bstreetsmart event — an impactful and educational initiative focused on promoting road safety among young people. Held annually, bstreetsmart brings together thousands of students to learn about the realities of road trauma through live crash reenactments, expert talks, and student-led creative projects.
The event was not only informative but deeply moving, encouraging students to reflect on the importance of making safe choices behind the wheel. It was a powerful reminder that even one moment of distraction can have life-altering consequences.
We’re especially proud to share that a group of our talented students — Ashleigh, Amira, Lucas, Sylvana, Amie, and Leila — had their short film “One Second of Distraction, A Lifetime of Regret” selected in the Top 10 of the bstreetsmart film competition. Their work stood out for its emotional depth, creative storytelling, and strong message about the dangers of distracted driving.
The film competition is a key part of the bstreetsmart program, giving students a platform to express their views on road safety through visual media. Being recognised among the top entries is a testament to the team’s dedication and the power of youth voices in driving change.
We congratulate our students on this outstanding achievement and thank bstreetsmart for providing such a meaningful experience. Events like these not only educate but empower our students to become advocates for safer roads and more responsible driving.
