Following the success of their first scholarship partnership, The Yulgilbar Foundation will support the dream of an aspiring dancer with three years of full tuition at The McDonald College, commencing in 2020.
In support of education and opportunities for students based in regional NSW, the full scholarship will allow a prospective student from the Northern Rivers region to study at The McDonald College in Sydney from Year 10-12, beginning in 2020. This will cover the entirety of their academic and performing arts tuition during the student’s time at the College. The scholarship is open to students who have studied or have an interest in classical ballet and wish to pursue performing arts professionally.
The first scholarship recipient, Charlie Slater, studied at the College from 2015-2017. Based in Alstonville, NSW, Charlie came from a geographically and financially disadvantaged background. The scholarship gave him the opportunity to study classical ballet, whilst building his confidence as a young man. After graduation, Charlie was accepted as an apprentice into the Queensland Ballet Young Artist program.
Prospective students will be asked to submit an application of interest for 2020 intake and will also be asked to audition in person or via video submission. The successful applicant will commence schooling in Term 1, 2020. Applications for The Yulgilbar Foundation Ballet Scholarship close on Friday 25 October 2019. Find out more.
