Evie May written by Hugo Chiarelli & featuring Tim Draxl

Hayes Theatre’s latest musical Evie May has received rave reviews during its opening week. The new musical features two former students; Hugo Chiarella who wrote the book and lyrics, and Tim Draxl, who stars as one of the leads. 

The new work has been developed through the New Musicals Australia program and is based on the last ever performance at the Tivoli in Sydney.  Veteran variety star, Evie May (Amanda Harrison), recalls the events that lead her from obscurity in regional Western Australia to the bright lights of the Australian variety circuit and the many sacrifices she made to get there. It offers a compelling take on Australia’s rich theatrical history. 

 

Evie May runs until the 10 November 2018.
