Acting
Acting plays a very important role in the development of
communication skills and confidence building in the students.
Besides a comprehensive Acting Program, students in this Stream learn
life skills such as problem solving, group and team work, confidence,
self-directed learning, respect for others and the ability to speak in
a public forum.
Students who have studied acting develop a confident self-esteem and
overcome any nervousness in communicating with other students or adults
at the College. They are communicative and enjoy being involved
in discussions during academic group work.
Students cover specific study areas from History of Theatre,
Practitioners and Styles of the Twentieth Century, Circus Skills,
Physical Theatre, Political Theatre, Farce, Commedia dell’Arte and
Melodrama. Voice and movement courses are incorporated into all
class programs and the developing physical skills of the students were
obvious during performances. Throughout the year, students
perform in various theatre productions not only as performers but
taking an active part in all areas of theatre craft.
The College encourages students to become involved in the technical
aspects of theatre. This technical team under the guidance of
expert staff provides the high quality expectations for all productions
at the College. Students also are involved in creating
multi-media and publicity material for performances.
