The McDonald College is proud of the academic achievement of the students who sat for the 2007 Higher School Certificate.

HSC Results 2007

Our results demonstrated that students can pursue their goals and aspirations in the Performing Arts whilst simultaneously attaining outstanding results in the state-wide testing that takes place for 66 000 students across NSW.  We are proud to say that The McDonald College rated in the top 200 schools sitting for the HSC in 2007; and we had 16% of our Year 12 students achieving a UAI above 90.

The results achieved can be attributed to the high calibre of the teachers employed at the College, many of whom are involved in HSC marking, the discipline and motivation of our students, and the positive and supportive environment at the College.  Achieving one’s personal best and being affirmed for doing so, is vital to building confidence and personal success. In turn, this has led to these wonderful academic results.

In English, 10% of our students scored in the top band; placing the College 83rd in the list of the top 240 schools in NSW. 43% of the English Extension students achieved the top band; well over the State average of 22%. In English Extension 2, 50% of our students were in the top band compared to 32% for the State average.

Other significant achievements in the 2007 HSC were as follows:

Life after the HSC for the students from the Class of 2007 varies from person to person.  Some have taken a gap year, delaying their decision to take up tertiary study for a year to explore new horizons in their travels or their pursuits in the Performing Arts. Others are taking a place at University for the start of 2008 in a range of fields including Physiotherapy, Communications and Public Relations, Theatre Studies, Property Management and so on. We are confident that each and every one of our Class of 2007 is well equipped to move forward through life with the skills, knowledge, strength and resilience to take on the new challenges that lies before them, in whatever field they choose.
