Allan Cross

Allan commenced training in classical ballet in Townsville after being introduced to the art form through athletics, at which he was very successful.

Allan trained in Townsville with Neil Walker and continued at The Australian Ballet School where he graduated in 1974. He was then accepted into The Australian Ballet.

Allan performed many soloist and principal roles from the Company’s repertoire and toured with the Company extensively throughout Australia and overseas.

He began freelance teaching at various ballet schools in Sydney. In 1986 Allan accepted the position of Head of Classical Ballet at The McDonald College of the Performing Arts in Sydney, a position he held for 18 years. During this period Allan and his wife Josephine Jason successfully trained and coached many students to professional level and assisted numerous students to gain entry to The Australian Ballet School, The Royal Ballet School, the RNZ Ballet School and many other distinguished dance institutions around the world.

Allan is currently Artistic Director of Premier State Ballet at The McDonald College.
