The Musical Theatre vision is to set a standard of excellence in training, while providing students with and intensive and specialised foundation to be a triple threat.
Students are challenged and developed in a variety classes and genres of performance including: Musical Theatre Repertoire, Dance in all its forms, Performance, Audition Technique, Drama Skills, History of Musical Theatre and Vocal technique, with both solo and group singing. The programme is aimed at preparing the student for auditions for either a Tertiary Education in the Arts both nationally and internationally, or more immediately, for auditions in Sydney and Australia as they come to the College’s attention.
We offer the best opportunity to achieve the highest level of competency.
Musical Theatre is currently available to students from Years 7 to 12, as we believe it is important for students in their younger years to experience all areas of Performing Arts and have time to develop their skills base in singing, dancing and acting. Therefore students in Year 5 & 6 are offered a taste of Musical Theatre on their elective Performing Arts day once a week.
Performance opportunities are wide and varied and may consist of Musicals, Cabaret, Showcases and individual and group performances.
As with all performing arts classes at the College, staff are drawn from the 'industry' and are either working or have been working in professional Musical Theatre for some time. From time to time, Specialist Master classes are conducted by visiting International Directors, Performers and Legends in the industry.
Students wishing participate in this stream do not have to be competent in all areas, but need to have a strong desire to gain the skills required.
The Musical Theatre students are offered the opportunity to visit the USA for the Broadway experience every two years, with specialist classes at the most prestigious studios, master classes and to view Broadway shows. This trip is a must for anyone on a "Musical Theatre Journey".
